Our Commitment

We are committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. The Government Digital Service (GDS) audit, carried out in August 2025, identified the following issues:

• Some buttons and links do not show a visible keyboard focus indicator.
• Some colour combinations do not meet minimum contrast requirements.
• Some linked images and buttons are missing alternative text or descriptive labels.
• The cookie consent pop-up can obscure content when viewed at 200%–400% zoom.
• Some buttons and indicators in sliders are smaller than the recommended 24px target size.
• The ‘Manage consent’ button is not visible at very high zoom levels.

We are currently addressing these issues as part of our ongoing accessibility improvement plan.

Fermanagh & Omagh District Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The following issues are being addressed:

• Focus visibility (WCAG 2.4.7) some interactive elements do not currently display a visible focus indicator when navigated by keyboard.
• Colour contrast (WCAG 1.4.3) some text and buttons do not meet minimum contrast ratios. Our colour palette forms part of the Explore Omagh &
  The Sperrins brand identity, so adjustments will be made carefully to balance accessibility and brand consistency.
• Link purpose (WCAG 2.4.4) some image links and ‘read more’ buttons lack clear descriptive text.
• Non-text content (WCAG 1.1.1) some slider and promotional images are missing alternative text.
• Focus not obscured (WCAG 2.4.11) the cookie consent banner can overlap focused content at high zoom levels.
• Resize and reflow (WCAG 1.4.4 & 1.4.10) the ‘Manage consent’ button is not visible at 200%–400% zoom.
• Target size (WCAG 2.5.8) slider indicators are smaller than the minimum 24×24px target size.

We plan to complete all high-priority fixes by April 2026. Minor visual and branding-related issues will be reviewed and addressed during the next design refresh in early 2026.

This statement was prepared on 8 October 2025 and last reviewed on 8 October 2025.

This website was tested by the Government Digital Service (GDS) on 8 August 2025, using a representative sample of pages.

• Retest the site to confirm WCAG 2.2 AA compliance following remediation.
